Bio

I’m a Lecturer in Media and Communication in the School of Communication and Arts at The University of Queensland. I am currently filling the role of Acting Director of Museum Studies at the University of Queensland.

My research examines digital media, with a particular focus on the participatory and algorithmic brand culture of social and mobile media platforms.

I have worked in the arts and the not-for-profit sector for the past 20 years and was awarded my PhD in 2017. In this study research I explore the relationship between museums, art galleries and libraries and the use of digital devices and media platforms. I follow the way that contemporary institutions are adjusting their practices to keep pace with evolving technologies.

Having worked in a range of community engagement roles at organisations such as RSPCA, Australian Red Cross and Brisbane Powerhouse I have a strong interest in how museums engage visitors and my current research examines the intersection between the museum and digital technology.
